Simon has been providing comprehensive financial advice since 1990.

At Hassan & Associates Simon advises higher net worth and higher earning clients, using the comprehensive financial planning process with a focus on investment strategy, portfolio construction and retirement adequacy planning.
Active in the profession, Simon is a Fellow and past President of the Institute of Financial Advisers (www.ifa.org.nz). He has also chaired its College of Financial Planners, and was closely involved with government and industry leaders in the lead up to financial adviser regulation. He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee for Authorised Financial Advisers and has worked in a number of roles with the international Financial Planning Standards Board (www.fpsb.org, FPSB sets and promotes standards for financial planners in 26 countries around the world).
Simon has a keen interest in professional education and financial advice tools. He also mentors and consults to advisers, advisory firms, government agencies and education providers. He also lectured in financial advice at Massey from 2004 to 2012, has written numerous articles for professional journals and the press and is a popular speaker.
Prior to setting up Hassan & Associates in 1995, Simon held management and financial advisory roles with global financial services provider, Prudential. Before that he taught in secondary schools for 17 years, finishing up as an Assistant Principal.
Simon is a Chartered Life Underwriter, and a Certified Financial PlannerCM professional.
